An Garda Siochana is the Republic of Irelands National police service with the dual mandates of law enforcement and State security. The DMR North Central Division of An Garda Síochána Division is one of the busiest Divisions in the Republic of Ireland. It serves a catchment area which includes a broad mix of activity from major retail, commercial, public administration and defence, to residential. It services Garda Headquarters, Army Headquarters and the Kings Inn (Bar Council of Ireland), and has responsibility for the Criminal Courts, the Family Law Court and the Children’s Court.
The Division is home to a number of national venues (Croke Park stadium – 82,500 capacity, Dalymount Park, 3 Arena), critical infrastructure (Busáras – central bus station in Dublin, Ireland for Intercity and regional bus services operated by Bus Éireann; Connolly Station - one of the main railway stations in Dublin and is a focal point in the Irish route network; Port Tunnel Hub – a road traffic tunnel that connects Dublin Port to the M1 Motorway; and Dublin Port), prisons (Mountjoy, St. Patrick’s, Arbour Hill and The Dóchas Centre) and hospitals (The Mater, Temple Street, Rotunda and St. Brendan’s). It hosts the historically significant General Post Office (GPO), the Garden of Remembrance and the National Writer’s Museum. The Division also includes the Department of Education, the Department of the Environment and the Department of Social and Family Affairs.
